What Makes Trailblazer Home Inspections Different

From Air Force to Home Inspector

20+ Years of Service & Inspection Experience

Before launching Trailblazer Home Inspections, I spent more than 20 years in the United States Air Force, serving in roles where precision, accountability, and careful inspection were part of the job every day. My career began in aircraft maintenance and later advanced into inspection, compliance, and leadership roles, including work in the Inspector General’s office. That experience shaped the thorough, methodical approach I bring to every home inspection.

Alongside my military service, I also served as General Manager for a local plumbing company, where I worked closely with residential plumbing systems, technicians, and other skilled trades involved in home construction and repair. That hands-on background helps me evaluate homes with both an inspector’s eye and a practical understanding of how major systems perform in the real world.

Trailblazer Home Inspections was built on a simple mission: provide detailed, honest inspections that give people clarity and confidence. I believe in taking the time to do the job right, explaining findings clearly, and delivering inspections that are never rushed, never confusing, and never shortcut.

How Trailblazer Home Inspections Stands Apart

Most inspectors follow minimum standards. We go beyond them in the areas that matter most.

Inspection Item Typical Inspector Trailblazer What We Do Differently
Do inspectors walk on roofs? When safe, we carefully walk roofs for a more complete inspection.
Are all outlets and switches tested? We test all accessible outlets and switches, not just one per room.
Carbon monoxide testing? We use combustion analyzers for furnaces, boilers, and fireplaces.
Furnace performance checked? We verify safe and consistent heating performance.
AC performance checked? We test AC systems when conditions allow for accuracy.
Infrared inspection included? Infrared scans are included on every inspection.
Moisture meter testing? We detect hidden moisture issues early.
Permit history checked? We verify permits with the city and flag open or missing permits.
Attics fully inspected? We thoroughly inspect attic spaces when accessible.
Are sinks and bathtubs filled? Filling fixtures helps reveal plumbing issues that basic checks can miss.
Doors and windows inspected? We check all accessible doors and windows, not just a sample.
Expired smoke/CO alarms reported? We note alarms beyond their typical 10-year lifespan.
Environmental hazards noted? We identify visible hazards and provide guidance.
Whole-house ventilation inspected? We inspect air exchangers even though most inspectors don’t.
Exhaust fans tested? We confirm exhaust fans are working as designed.
Water softeners inspected? We verify softeners using hard water test strips.
Laundry appliances inspected? We test laundry systems that are often skipped.
Are townhouse common areas checked? We inspect shared spaces just like single-family homes.
